What is the terrain?
You will be running on countryside ‘back’ roads. These roads will remain open during the event, however traffic on them is very light.
Road shoes or trail?
We recommend road shoes unless there is adverse weather prior to or during the event that would indicate otherwise. Follow us on our socials for updates of this nature!
Can I run with my dog?
If you know our ethos (and have checked out our about us page) you will know we love dogs ๐ถ๐. However, our insurance provider is not so keen, so it’s a no, unfortunately.
Can I run with a buggy?
Yes, as long as you have a suitable running buggy. Buggy runners, please position yourself to the BACK of the race start line, behind all other runners. Feel free to (safely) shoot past them on the course though ๐.
What is the minimum age permitted?
Participants must be aged 15+ on the day of the event.
Who is this event good for?
We hope it is good for everyone! Seasoned 10k runners, new runners, LGBTQIA+ participants, people with disabilities (please contact us before entering so we can discuss any assistance you may need), Black and minority ethnicity (BME) runners, vegans and non-vegans…inclusivity is one of Green Strides Fitness’ core values ๐ค.
Can I leave my bag somewhere?
Yes, of course you can. There will be a bag drop opportunity at the bus pick up point and an area near the start line. We advise you to only pack what you might need.
Will there be toilets?
Yes, portaloos will be available near the start/finish line.
What’s the lowdown on the food? ๐ฅ
Being seasoned running event attendees, we know the importance of the chance to grab some grub afterwards. We are working with food-folk to make this happen! All Green Strides Fitness event food will be vegan-friendly ๐ฑ (if spectators on the route are offering out sweets, etc. we can’t control what’s in those!). We will make sure we have some (also vegan-friendly ๐ฑ) options for our gluten-free peeps too ๐พ๐ซ. Have another food requirement? Short of anything that was an animal, came from an animal, or was made by an animal, let us know and we will see what we can do!
Who are you fundraising for?
Ananda Animal Sanctuary, who ‘support animals in their right to be free from suffering and exploitation…[and are]…’home toย over 80 rescued animalsย including sheep, goats, turkeys, cows, ducks, geese, pigs, chickens, cats and a three legged dog’.
We may be able to offer on-the-day sanctuary tours for runners and supporters alike. We will provide plenty of notice via email and our social spaces to sign up to these should they be available. Sanctuary tours allow you to meet some of the animals this event helps and find out more about the work the sanctuary does and why. Tours generally last approximately 30 minutes, can take a maximum of 20 people at a time, are child friendly (under-5’s go free with a paying adult), and may be muddy!
Is there a cut-off time? โฒ๏ธ
No! We want you to enjoy the event at your own pace. We will have support on the course to help get you there, no matter how long it takes.
Why can’t l park near the start line? ๐ ฟ๏ธ
The spectacular scenery you will be running in comes at the small cost of a lack of rural parking facilities! And yes, we tried getting a nearby field for parking ๐ . Carnwath itself is not huge, so please carshare your way there wherever possible – the people of Carnwath and our precious environment thank you ๐. The pick up/drop off point is shown below.

Our shuttle bus won’t take long, is FREE, and will only add to the buzz of being around other runners ๐. Your cheerleaders are also welcome to hop aboard! We have improved our bus seating ratio for 2026!
If you use a blue badge and require special assistance on the parking front, please get in touch and we will do what we can to help.
Can I buy event merch? ๐
We hope so! Follow us on our socials for updates!
Ananda Animal Sanctuary may also have merchandise available for purchase at the event.
As per our previous edition, we plan to hold a raffle for you to WIN Ananda Animal Sanctuary merchandise goodies!
What happens if I can’t take part?
25% refund if requested at least 2 months before the event date.
For a small administration fee of ยฃ2.50, you can transfer your place to another runner up until 1 week before the event.
Please do not allow another runner to run under your name as this can cause serious issues in the event of a health and safety need.
Contact events@greenstridesfitness.com to initiate a refund/transfer as soon as it is required.
